| Wow! I came home from work to find the kids watching a Common Garter Snake (see http://www.gpnc.org/CoGSnake.htm for information) trying to eat a VERY large toad. And you thought nothing exciting ever happens at the Neu Home (for the Mentally Unstable). WARNING TO HERPAPHOBES! SNAKE PICTURE BELOW! This picture was taken pretty early in the process. Hours later, there was not too much more progress. It would be interesting to see if it has taken on too much to swallow.

| It has been a long time since last post. I think it was a short interlude over on Facebook that has really made me question the use of posting in blogs. Facebook--what a waste of internet energy! In the meantime: Our main desktop computer is inoperable and I can't find the product key to reinstall any Windows OS on the backup computer since having to replace the hard disk. My family is limited to using this one laptop for all our computer needs. Now the guess. What do you think the guru with our computer will come back with as the diagnosis? Hint: When we power up, there is no beep, no attempt to access the floppy drive, and no accessing the hard disk. The CD drive spins up but will not read. There is power to the Motherboard. Post your best guess and I'll let you in when we know something. BTW, Daniel, I got a DVD/CD burner for only $29 delivered and it arrived alive! | | |
| I got to go back to Juarez to build a house! Wife Susan, Daughter Bethany, Son Steve, and new Daughter-in-Law Chris, along with several folks from our new church, accompanied me on a building trip between Christmas and New Years. My last trip was two years ago and I didn't know for sure whether I would get the opportunity to return. Several months ago we floated the idea of a Juarez mission building trip to the Maize Congregational Church and they jumped on it like a duck on a june bug. HERE IS THE WORKSITE IN JUAREZ BEFORE BUILDING BEGAN:
HERE IS THE COMPLETED HOUSE TWO DAYS LATER:
THE HOME WAS BUILT FOR CLARA LIZ ROJAS AND HER DAUGHTER MARAI, SEEN HERE WITH THEIR PASTOR AND ONE OF OUR TEAM (WHO IS ON THE LEFT). God blessed us with very good weather on the worksite. We learned of bad snow approaching our route home, so we completed the house a day early and returned home earlier than originally planned by a route that avoided the snow. If you ever have the opportunity to participate in a short-term mission work, I highly recommend that you go and experience how the world outside the USA looks. | | |
| Yeah, I did the IE7 update. I actually had this piece of junk in my computer for all of about 22 minutes before uninstalling it and going back to 6. Who laid this out? Could it be any worse? Can't get rid of those stupid tabs (like I need tabs to keep track of what I am doing?). The button layout makes no sense whatsoever. I am way too old to learn a new interface! Here is a prime example of how newer is not always better. Comments anyone? | | |
| They did it! They actually hung in there and played good fundamental baseball and that's what won the World Series. The Tigers just did not execute the stuff you teach Little Leaguers: field your position, go with the pitch, throw strikes. Albert Pujols' main contribution was in the field. Have you ever seen a big man with that kind of agility before? And he was always in position. Scott Rolen got his wake-up call Game 2 against the Mets when he was getting pine stains on his backside. Boy did he ever wake up! I think Yadier Molina got more hits in the postseason than in the season. When you're hot you're hot. And he showed he can handle the best, most veteran, and even the most rookie, pitchers. Sometimes LaRussa made me scratch my head. Sometimes I was yelling, "Are you nuts?" at the TV (Who else would pass on a pinch-hitter for Weaver in the 6th and let him go 8 innings?). Afterwards Tony looks like a managing genius. This was a fun World Series. For a Cardinals Fan like me. | | |
